E=mc squared

Finding
Mass and energy are not different things. They are the same thing measured in different units. A body at rest contains energy equal to its mass times the speed of light squared. This is not a conversion formula (like dollars to euros); it is an identity statement. When uranium-235 fissions, the fragments have slightly less total mass than the original — the “missing” mass is expressed as kinetic energy. The Sun converts approximately 4.3 million tonnes of mass into energy every second. Confirmed to extraordinary precision (Rainville et al., Nature, 2005).
Pattern Mapping
Alignment — What appears to be two things (mass and energy) is one thing acting consistently with its own nature. The equation describes not a transformation but an identity.
Proportion — c^2 is approximately 9 x 10^16. A small amount of mass corresponds to enormous energy. This is not excess — it is the actual ratio. Nature’s proportion between mass and energy is exact.
Honesty — The equation revealed that every object contains energy sufficient to devastate a city. This was always true. The equation did not create the energy; it acknowledged what was already there.

Status
Established physics, among the most thoroughly confirmed results in science. See Pais, Subtle Is the Lord, ch. 7; Bodanis, E=mc^2 (2000). The structural interpretation is this project’s reading.
